2008 Prefontaine Classic
»Brad Walker set an American record in the pole vault at 19-9 3/4 (6.04m) for one of eight meet records in the 34th Prefontaine Classic. Maria Mutola of Mozambique won the women's 800m in 1:59.24 for her 16th Prefontaine win in a row in her final Hayward Field appearance. Kenenisa Bekele of Ethiopia won the 10,000m in 26:25.97 for the fastest time ever run in the U.S.
